PEOPLE OF THE WORLD – Photography Exhibition

A journey into the heart of two cultures

1 June – 14 August 2026 at the Main Library in Sipoo

The exhibition People of the World invites you to pause and see the world through someone else’s eyes. Photographer Lise Leino presents the lives, values and deep connection to nature found in two cultures: the eagle hunters of Mongolia and the Indigenous communities of Papua New Guinea

In these societies, nature is not a backdrop — it is the essence of life. For the eagle hunters, the eagle is a partner and a symbolic bridge between earth and sky. In Papua New Guinea, identity is shaped by the rhythms of nature, ancestral traditions and strong communal bonds.

Despite the vast distance between them, these cultures share a common philosophy: respect for nature, the strength of community, presence in the moment and the importance of tradition.

The exhibition invites you to reflect: How do we live? How present are we in our everyday lives? What do we value?  Perhaps you will discover something in these cultures that resonates with your own.

The production and curating of the exhibition is overseen by Paola Dadda, producer for Sipoo Library Services. The exhibition is part of the Helle Libraries’ development project (2026–2027), which aims to strengthen cooperation and develop shared cultural programming across the Helle network.
