Enrollment in Pre-primary Education

The children are offered free of charge pre-primary education during the year before primary education. Children will receive education every weekday for four hours. Lunch is also served during pre-primary education days.

In Sipoo pre-primary education groups can be found in kindergartens, in primary schools and in separate pre-primary education units. All children in pre-primary age have also the right to receive supplementary day care. Fees carried out for supplementary day care amount to 60 % of the fee the family would pay for full-time day care.

Enrolment in Pre-primary education / Families registered in Sipoo

All children registered as living in Sipoo are allocated a place in pre-primary education. The guardians will recieve a letter containing information and a decision of the primary pre-primary education unit allocated for the child according to the home address, as well as instructions on how to proceed to confirm the placement. The guardians are to confirm their child’s placement in pre-primary education online in eDaisy .

At the same time, an application for a place in supplementary day care can be submitted.

Enrolment in Pre-primary education / New Sipoo residents and families moving to Sipoo

If your child has not been registered in Sipoo at the beginning of the year, but wishes to begin preschool in Sipoo, you as a guardian can enrol the child in to preschool through eDaisy.

Basic information and legislation

Children in the pre-primary education age, or 6 years, participate in pre-primary education organised by the municipality. Those 7-year-olds whose school attendance has been postponed also participate in pre-primary education. It can additionally be attended by 5-year-olds to whom a decision on extended compulsory education has been issued.

The children receive pre-primary education for four hours every morning. During this time, a lunch is served to the children.

Under the Basic Education Act, participation in pre-primary education is mandatory. A child’s guardian is responsible for ensuring that the child participates in pre-primary education or activities that meet its objectives during the school year that precedes the start of compulsory education.
