Municipal Organization

Employee Organization

The municipal government office includes the following units and centres:

  • The Education Department
  • The Social and Health Care Department
  • The Technical and Environment Department
  • The Development and Land Use Planning Centre
  • The Economic and Administrative Centre

The departments consist of profit units. The profit units take care of compatible business functions.

Mayor

In addition to what is stated in the Local Government Act and other chapters of the municipal Administrative Regulations, the mayor’s duties are as follows:

  1. To lead strategic development of the municipality
  2. As the highest-ranking holder of an office in the municipality, to answer for realization of goals and decisions made by the council and the municipal government
  3. To see to that municipal actions as a whole are carried out effectively and economically
  4. To lead the municipal government and the employee organization
  5. To answer for the entire municipality’s internal and external communication
