Golden Grove Pet Cemetery
The pet cemetery is now closed for the winter 2025–2026, and we will inform you again in the spring when we can receive new notifications about animals to be buried.
Golden Grove pet cemetery (Kultalehto) is a place where pet owners may bury their dogs, cats and other small-sized animals. The service is intended for the pets of residents of Sipoo municipality.
The municipality of Sipoo coordinates and allocates the burial plots. Otherwise, the cemetery is a self-service location. The owners will take care of the burial of their pets themselves.The burial must always be arranged in advance, and the Municipality of Sipoo will designate the exact burial plot.
You can book a burial plot for your pet in the portal My Services. Select "Environment and Animals" and then "Petcemetery place for pets". Inquiries about burial plots will be answered within 5 working days.
Burial services are currently free of charge and are based on the initiative of the users of the site. Users are responsible for the cleanliness of the graves and cemetery. The pet cemetery Golden Grove is a natural grove-like forest area.
Please note that deceased pets may also be buried elsewhere than in the pet cemetery with the landowner's permission. Pet burials must not pose a risk to human or animal health. Pets must not be buried in groundwater areas, less than 250 meters from a well, in a water intake protection area, or on a slope leading to a water system.
Deceased pets must be buried at a depth of at least 1 meter and covered immediately with a thick layer of soil. When choosing a burial site, it is important to ensure that the area will not be ploughed or dug up shortly after the burial. Deceased pets must not be buried in a plastic bag or other non-degradable material. Pet burials must comply with the Environmental Protection Act and the Public Health Act, as well as the provisions laid down in these acts.

The small animal cemetery is located along the road that begins at the intersection of Itäisen Jokipuiston tie and Puutarhurintie. There is a signpost to the cemetery at the intersection. Below you can find arrival instructions on the map.

Do the following
- The pet cemetery (Kultalehto) is a place where pet owners may bury their dogs, cats and other small-sized animals
- Please reserve a burial plot for your pet via My Services
- The Municipality of Sipoo recommends cremation for all pets, and the absolute upper weight limit for pet burial is 10 kg
- An animal of less than 10 kg can be buried uncremated, e.g. wrapped in a natural fiber (decomposing) felt, blanket, etc., or in a cardboard box
- An animal over 10 kg may be buried only cremated in a decomposing urn
- The customer must take care of the funeral at the designated plot
- The grave must be dug to a depth of 1 m
- The municipality of Sipoo indicates a precise burial plot
- Burial is allowed only in the Golden Grove pet cemetery area
- Burial is only possible in summer
- The burial period is 10 years, after which the plot can be given to a new burial
- You can bring a nameplate, monument or memorial stone to the grave, religious symbols must not be used
- Flowers may be brought/planted at the burial plot, but they must not be species that spread widely/grow big
- There is no waste management in the area, flowerpots, candlelight lanterns, etc., non-decomposing waste must be transported out of the area
