Maj-Britt Huovila is a painter and community artist from Sipoo. Her work is shaped by themes of place, environment, and the relationship between people and place.

In the summer of 2026, Huovila worked at the Artborg AiR pilot residency on the final phase of Oranssijopo, a community art project. The new phase of the project was launched during Oulu’s European Capital of Culture year at Art Hub Pikisaari. During the residency period, her work continued through an exploration of Oranssijopo’s relationship with the places and communities where the concept has been realized. She also reflected on whether the project could be brought to an end in the place where it originally began.

During the pilot residency, Huovila also evaluated the functionality of Artborg AiR’s interior and workspaces as facilities for an artist residency programme.
