You are what you eat… (Hippocrates).
Not only “what”, but also “how.” On the examples of A.S. Pushkin, I.A. Krylov, L.N. Tolstoy, A.P. Chekhov, M.A. Bulgakov, Isaac Babel, a literary tool to trace a literary character’s psychological portrait with the character’s own description of the meal and dishes. The seminar is accompanied by reading texts in Russian, a stylized translation into English and a comparative analysis of the character’s dependence on the food they consume. Questions and comments are welcomed. Languages of the seminar are English and Russian.
