Ymparisto.fi online service | Water permit

The Ymparisto.fi online service is Finland’s environmental administration’s joint service in which you can find information on matters related to the environmental administration as well as its tasks, operational objectives and current topics. Ymparisto.fi is a service for companies, municipalities, authorities and citizens. The website is maintained by the Ministry of the Environment, the Finnish Environment Institute SYKE, 13 Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centre), the Housing Finance and Development Centre of Finland ARA and Regional State Administrative Agencies (AVI).

The front page contains recent news, bulletins and information on the environmental administration’s services. You can find more information on different topics from the main menu or by searching. The main menu topics and sections are Waters, Sea, Nature, Climate and air, Consumption and production, Living environment and planning, Building and Housing.

In addition to these, the Maps and statistics section contains statistics produced by the environmental administration, environmental status indicators and information on the data systems of the environmental administration. The Forms, permits and environmental impact assessment section contains information on the permits, notifications, registrations and environmental impact assessment that citizens and companies may require. The section for regional environmental information lists links to information provided by each ELY Centre.

The service also contains separate theme sites. The theme sites provide information on significant projects, programmes, monitoring, events and networks related to different environmental topics.
